Primal Branding with Patrick Hanlon

PrimalbrandingEver wondered why some products mean something to us, while others do not? Or what's the magic glue that tightly holds consumers to brands such as Google, Mini Cooper, Oprah and others? And why do so many brands with great product innovation, perfect location, terrific customer experience, even breakthrough advertising fail to get the same visceral traction in the marketplace that brands like Apple, Starbucks, or Nike have?

The answer lies herein. Listen in as we speak to Patrick Hanlon, founder of Thinktopia and author of Primal Branding: Create Zealots for Your Brand, Your Company, and Your Future as he reveals the seven factors known as Primal Codes and shows us how to use and combine them to create a community of believers in which the consumer develops a powerful emotional attachment to the brand.

Hanlon's book is an amazing read and gives us a provocative view of classic branding. What makes this book different from the hundreds of other books on branding, is that it looks at brands as a belief system that creates a brand community. The book also provides a prescriptive element and the seven codes of primal branding can be applied to any brand; whether it's a product, service, city, personality or social cause. This is a fascinating read.  It's almost like Hanlon's discovered the Holy Grail of great branding!

Patrick Hanlon has worked on such famous brands as Lego, Absolut, General Motors, Pepsi International, Sears, Bell South and IBM as a senior executive at one of the world's most creative advertising agencies went on to found Thinktopia and shared his proprietary new primal branding construct with marketers from Target, Starbucks, American Express and many Fortune 500 companies.

BOS Interview of the Week With Future Shop Author Daniel Nissanoff

Futureshop Believe it or not, the following Business of Success interview is worth at least $2,200 to you! Because according to Daniel Nissanoff, author of Future Shop: How the New Auction Culture Will Revolutionize the Way We Buy, Sell and Get the Things We REALLY Want,  your house is overflowing with thousands of dollars worth of unused or unwanted objects. Indeed, it is estimated that the average household has $2,200 worth of unused items.  And it gets better than that: It seems that all of our possessions have that one thing we're all looking for - a residual value!

Click to Listen

Dan_1 In this interview you will hear how in the last year alone, over $44 Billion worth of goods were sold on eBay. You'll also hear how 700,000 people actually make their primary income on eBay, and how only only 5% of the 180 million people who have traded on eBay, have actually ever SOLD on the platform.

This is a fantastic interview. You will discover how to leverage the auction culture so that you don't miss out and can reclaim that new income opportunity that's rightfully yours. This is your chance to cash in on the paradigm shift in the on-line auction culture, because with the advent of the "Drop Off" stores opening up around the country, you now have no excuse for keeping all that junk that's been cluttering your home!

Don't forget fols; one man's junk is another man's treasure!

This interview has it all and gets our vote as 'BOS Interview of the Week.'

The 30-Second Dinosaur

30_secondIf you're working in an Ad agency putting together a 30-second TV or radio spot commercial for your client, you're not going to like what our next guest has to say. According Joseph Jaffe, author of Life After the 30-Second Spot, if you haven't figured out the "bold mix" of alternatives to traditional media, you may need to start looking for a new job as the 30-second spot becomes the dinosaur of the marketing and advertising mix.

In his book Life After the 30-Second Spot, Jaffe explains how savvy marketers and advertisers are responding with new marketing techniques to get their message out, get noticed, engage their audiences-and increase sales! Covering topics such as viral marketing, gaming, on-demand viewing, long-form content, interactive, and more, the book explains the new avenues marketers and advertisers must use to replace traditional print, TV, and radio advertising-and which strategies are most effective. This book claims to be every marketer's road map to "new marketing."

Listen in as Jaffe gives a great interview with Alan Rothman and discusses his motivation for writing the book, his philosophy on marketing and advertising along with strategies that will work and why.
